You pack your bags, you go to Eleftherios Venizelos airport and you are only two hours away from a different destination for this weekend. Cyprus is<\/a> waiting for you for the most beautiful 48 hours of this month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is so close to Athens, that you may have never thought about it. A place that offers landscapes of unique natural beauty. Museums and archaeological sites for exploration. Seaside villages and mountain settlements that offer calmness. Gastronomic experiences based on the famous Cypriot cuisine. Walks in traditional settlements that take you away to another era.<\/p>\n

Cyprus and its attractions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Definitely a weekend to see of Cyprus’ beauties is not enough. But you can see many of its sights and beauties. The question is what to choose first.<\/p>\n

Arriving by plane to Larnaca you have the opportunity to admire its salt lake with the flamingos and Hala Sultan Tekke on its banks.<\/strong> This wetland is, in fact, protected by the Ramsar and NATURA programmes. If the weather is nice, which is probable, you’ll walk along the coastal promenade and see up close the beautiful place called “Finikoudes”. The palm trees on the right and left of the road will tell you why. Don’t ignore the medieval fortress that today houses the Medieval Museum.<\/p>\n

Limassol<\/strong><\/a>, on the other hand, has a different charm. It is the southernmost city in Europe and stands out for its historic centre. You will walk through the picturesque streets next to the Old Port. You will admire the imposing Limassol Castle, one of the most impressive in Cyprus. You will make a stop to enjoy the traditional local delicacies. Don’t miss a walk to Agia Napa.<\/p>\n

If you now want to make a journey through history, then Paphos is what you’re looking for. The Archaeological Park of Kato Paphos includes sites and monuments from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. You will also see the ruins of the Castle, the Asclepiion, the Conservatory, the Agora and the famous Tombs of the Kings.<\/strong> With a little search, you can find romantic spots for a weekend for two.<\/p>\n

When you go to Cyprus, do not forget to…<\/strong><\/h3>\n

1. See the Petra of Romios<\/a> else called Venus’ Rock on the southwest coastline of Cyprus, on the route from Paphos to Limassol.

\n3. Visit the wine-making villages of Cyprus following the Wine Road. The wine-making villages of Limassol are located on the slopes of the Troodos mountain range and are famous for their viticulture and agrotourism.<\/p>\n
