A trip to Naxos, the largest of the Cyclades, is a real challenge for the visitor.<\/strong> Archaeological sites and monuments testify to the passage of time and arouse interest. The Naxiotikos Kalogeros on your plate<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This popular dish of the island is actually aubergines with braised beef. If you can’t spend your summer holidays in Naxos this year, you can feel as if you were there by cooking this dish at home. A successful recipe is provided by madameginger.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

\"Naxiotikos<\/p>\n

Servings: 6 – Preparation time: 1.5-2 hours Cooking time: 1-1.5 hours<\/p>\n

Ingredients for beef<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 kg of beef
\n1 onion
\n5 tomatoes, peeled and diced or 1 pack of canned tomato-sauce
\n1 teaspoon of sugar
\n2 teaspoons of tomato paste
\nsalt & pepper
\nOther Materials
\n6 aubergines flasks
\n2 tomatoes
\nMale (Arseniko) Naxos cheese
\nOlive oil
\nsalt & pepper<\/p>\n

Implementation<\/strong><\/p>\n

We start implementing the recipe, naturally, with the beef. We saute the beef in olive oil until it becomes golden on all sides. Add the chopped onion and saute until it becomes translucent. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, salt and pepper and lower the heat. Simmer the beef for about 1 1\/2 hours until it becomes completely softened and the sauce thickens.<\/strong> Remove from the heat and pour some raw olive oil over it.<\/p>\n

At the same time, cut the aubergines lengthwise and rinse them in water and salt.<\/p>\n

Then place the aubergines in a baking pan and fill them with braised meat (about 2 tablespoons meat and sauce per aubergine). Cut the tomatoes into rounds and place them on top of the meat. Rub the Arseniko cheese and spread it on the eggplants. Bake in the oven, grill at 250oC for about 5-7 minutes and serve immediately.<\/p>\n
