Nestled between Roska <\/strong>and Doliana,<\/strong> a hidden gem awaits the adventurous traveler. The gorge \u201cPanta Vrechi\u201d(“always raining” in Greek) or Pantevrachis as the locals call it. A magical place that deserves a visit in your lifetime. Where can you find it? In Evritania<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

The gorge has a curious name that reflects its unique feature. Somewhere along the gorge, there is a narrow stretch of about 80 meters. There, icy waters from the rugged mountain of Kaliakouda meet the waters of the river Krikeliotis. But instead of joining them directly, they seep through springs at the top of the gorge. The result?<\/p>\n

They form stunning waterfalls that cascade from the summit. But because of the great height, they don\u2019t fall in a solid stream. They fall in drops of various sizes, creating the illusion of rain.<\/p>\n

The scene is enchanting, especially at certain times of the day. When the sun shines, its rays dance with the droplets in a dazzling display. If you\u2019re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of tiny rainbows sparkling in the mist.<\/p>\n

How to get to the gorge<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/picture><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t miss the chance to visit \u201cPanta Rain<\/strong>\u201d if you\u2019re in Karpenisi. It\u2019s a breathtaking destination that will amaze you all the way. There are three stunning trails to choose from.<\/p>\n

As you hike along the gorge, you\u2019ll see the suspension bridge of Krikeliotis<\/strong>. Before you reach the rain spectacle, there\u2019s another beautiful spot. The waterfalls create small natural pools at their base. The brave ones can plunge into their cold waters in the summer.<\/p>\n

Remember that you\u2019ll have to walk in the river for about half an hour to get to the \u201crain\u201d point. Make sure you have the right gear and a spare set of clothes and shoes.<\/p>\n

If you enjoy delicious food, stop by the nearby villages on your way back to Karpenisi.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Pick one of these three routes to get there:<\/p>\n

1st Route:<\/strong> Go from Karpenisi to Rachi Timfristos. You\u2019ll pass by Krikellos, Domnista, Watchtower, and Agios Charalambos. Then go to Kastanoula village and Roska. You\u2019re now at 1,000 meters altitude. You\u2019ve seen some amazing sights on the way. You can stop for some photos. After the bridge Stournara – Roskas, you\u2019ll reach the place \u201cAlways Raining\u201d. That\u2019s where you\u2019ll start hiking to the \u201crain\u201d point.<\/p>\n

2nd Route:<\/strong> Leave Karpenisi and head to Megalo Chorio. If you have time, stop at one of the most popular villages of Evritania. You can also come back here for lunch. Then continue to the peak of Mount Kaliakouda and the village of Stournara. When you see the bridge between Stournara and Roskas, you know you\u2019re close to the gorge.<\/p>\n

3rd Route:<\/strong> Start from Karpenisi and follow these villages: Gavros, Prousos, Tornos, Kastania (don\u2019t enter the village), and Prodromos. Shortly after Roska, you\u2019ll see the bridge between Stournara and Roska. You\u2019re almost there!<\/p>\n

Tip 1: The place is beautiful all year long. But you can only walk through the gorge from June to September. The river has too much water in the other months. You\u2019ll need shoes that don\u2019t slip on rocks.<\/p>\n

Tip 2: If you enjoy delicious food, stop by the nearby villages on your way back to Karpenisi. Megalo Chorio has many options for you.<\/p>\n
