It\u2019s one of the many hidden gems of Greece, where hundreds of islands and islets dot the coastline. Some are so obscure that they have their own stories, have few or no residents, or have been deserted. Most islands, islets, and rocky outcrops are in the Aegean Sea, and many are unfamiliar to most people. That\u2019s the case with a small island near <strong>Chios Island<\/strong> with a curious name: <strong>Pasha<\/strong>! This island belongs to the <strong>island complex Oinousses<\/strong> group and has some very special inhabitants.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"jeg_post_title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/exploringgreece.tv\/en\/greece\/chios-a-legend-about-the-princess-and-the-greek-chapel-with-holy-water\/27530\/\">Chios: A strange legend about a princess and a Greek chapel with holy water<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Pasha Island: The Greek island that has for residents only&#8230; dogs and donkeys<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The island of <strong>Pasha Oinousses<\/strong> or <strong>Passas<\/strong> as it is written is also called Panagia. This island is the second largest islet of the <strong>Oinousses complex<\/strong> located northeast of Chios. Specifically, it is located east of Oinousses, very close to the coast of Asia Minor. It is a small islet with an area of only 2.5 square kilometers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-45417 \" src=\"https:\/\/exploringgreece.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/%CF%86%CE%B1%CF%81%CE%BF%CF%82-%CF%80%CE%B1%CF%83%CE%B1.jpg\" alt=\"Lighthouse of Pasha Oinousses\" width=\"782\" height=\"587\" \/>What makes the island stand out, even more, is not its name or its small area but the fact that apart from the few trees it has on it, dogs and donkeys live there! As far as the island&#8217;s buildings are concerned, there is the Church of the Holy Pilgrimage of <strong>Zoodochos Pigi of Panagia<\/strong> Oinousses island. There is also the National Guard &#8220;Panagia&#8221; which belongs to the 96th High Command of the National Guard Battalions. What also stands out is the <strong>lighthouse<\/strong> of the island which was built in <strong>1863<\/strong> by the French Company of Lighthouses. But Pasha is not alone in its mystery. There are many other hidden islands in Greece that have secrets waiting to be uncovered.
