The lakes of Greece are unique natural sights that always pique the interest of the visitor. Some of them have a special history and beauty, and definitely attract attention. One of these cases is Lake Tsivlou.\u00a0<\/strong> A natural lake with a terrible history to its credit, which even had victims. In general, however, this area in Achaia is an ideal destination, especially in autumn and winter. The yellow colors and nature transform the settlements into pages of fairy tales. It is worth exploring the area at the first opportunity.<\/p>\n

Lake Tsivlou: The severe landslide that created it and the… Resemblance to a French lake<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lake Tsivlou, as we said, is a natural lake that was formed by a landslide. In fact, the incident was so serious that people also died. It is no coincidence that it is also called Mavrolimni for the harm it caused. More precisely, everything happened in March 1913.<\/strong> Where Lake Tsivlou is today, there was an open valley in the middle of which the river flowed calmly.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/picture>On one side of the valley, there was a ravine with a small tributary of Krathis. There, then, at the confluence of rivers, there was the small picturesque settlement of Tsivlos. On the other side of the valley and quite high up towards the mountain was the village of Sylivena. But what happened? A landslide brought chaos. Nature, however, had warned with microvibrations.<\/strong> So the inhabitants of Sylivena abandoned the village in time. The settlement of Tsivlou did not suffer the same fate. The landslide that occurred caused the entire mountainside to roll rapidly. As a result, the soil ended up at the point where the settlement of Tsivlou was, with catastrophic consequences and human losses.<\/p>\n

From this landslide, however, Lake Tsivlou was slowly created by the waters of the river.<\/p>\n
