Autumn -and the winter to come- are a good opportunity to get close to nature and get to know the most mountainous destinations in Greece. Ideals are weekends, or even just weekends, for relaxation in nature and tranquility. One of the destinations that always brings out those who choose it is Trikala and Meteora.<\/strong> Only we chose the village of Kastraki as our base, combining excursions to both. Kastraki is the village below Meteora that can be the starting point for exploring the whole area.<\/p>\n

Kastraki in the prefecture of Trikala is particularly famous and not unfairly. It is, after all, the most famous village you will meet near Kalambaka on your way to Meteora<\/strong><\/a>. The sacred rocks leave you with your mouth open every time you visit. Once you arrive in Kastraki, you will be confronted with a unique spectacle. A plateau with ravines and the eerie rocks of Meteora that look like they want to touch the sky. \"\"<\/picture>Kastraki is an amphitheatrically built village in the western part of Meteora. A traditional and picturesque destination with a special local tradition that stands out.<\/strong> You can easily choose it as your base to explore the area since it has it all. Accommodation for all tastes, good food shops, and hospitable residents. There you will walk along narrow paths and picturesque streets, and visit small chapels. In Meteora, you will of course get to know the awe-inspiring monastery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trikala is an ideal destination year-round. It is one of the oldest cities in Greece and has a beauty that stands out. Surely to a large extent it owes this to the river Litheos<\/strong><\/a>, Europe’s river of dazzling colors. In the area, there is also an unknown village called Pyrra<\/a><\/strong> and is the Greek village with the “Kazania” and other unexplored caves. If you find yourself in the area, it is definitely worth staying in Kastraki, which will allow you to explore as many places as possible. The weekend is a good start, but you will definitely want to go back for more days!<\/p>\n
