Upon entering the village, one of the first sights you\u2019ll encounter is the large stone bridge. Constructed in 1748, this bridge has earned recognition as a recent archaeological monument. It bisects the village into two sections, or mahalas, situated to the left and right of the <strong>Aoos River<\/strong>. The village\u2019s name is said to derive from the roaring sound of the river\u2019s flowing waters.
