When you hear… Bad Sea, don’t necessarily go to the… In spite of all those who for some reason… They strongly dislike her because they have “personal” or other differences with her; she attracts most to worship, and some of them close to her forget everything and have combined her with the most enchanting, seductive, and at the same time rebellious \u2013 when she gets angry for good \u2013 element created by nature. It’s the seductress sea!<\/p>\n

So let’s go downhill to the southern tip of Attica, just 40 kilometers from the center, where Keratea is located. This city is built on the northern foothills of Mount Panio and is connected to Athens via Lavriou Avenue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today’s settlement was named Keratea, probably from the carob plant, also called keratea or keratia, which is very widespread in the area. <\/span>Here, we visit one of the closest beaches in the area, which, for many, reminds them of a beach in Pelion and is a magnet for residents of Attica who are looking for a breath of fresh air and an escape from the city.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because… Wicked;<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The kakia thalassa (or Bad Sea) derives its name from Greek mythology and the willingness of the god Zeus to help the Greeks in the war against the barbarian conquerors, causing, with the mediation of Poseidon, huge waves that literally swallowed the enemies’ fleet.<\/span><\/p>\n

What does this mythology do to you? How much does it connect myth with reality?<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n

Reality says that the beach of Kakia Thalassa is one of the most beautiful in Attica, and which, apart from its unique natural aquatic beauty, offers its visitors an alternative sports activity that is none other than… climbing, in one of the best climbing fields one encounters near Athens!<\/p>\n

What you can do<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The field is suitable for climbing and is shaded from morning until noon. These are the hours when anyone wishing to attempt climbing must do so, before the sun hits “red” and turns the climbing effort into a blast furnace climbing marathon!<\/p>\n

If you are determined, dare it and enjoy it, but keep the descent to the warm beach and a swim in the unique sea that spreads lazily at your feet and waits there, silent, to “embrace” you with its cool breeze at the edge of your mind.<\/p>\n

Although the beach gets very crowded because of its cleanliness, it remains enjoyable, with fine pebbles outside and sand inside.
\nThe beach is divided into two parts. The southern part is relatively well-organized, with facilities for rest and sunbathing, i.e., sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and changing rooms. Its northern part is unorganized. Usually, Kakia Thalassa is very crowded, with Athenians who vacation in their cottages and locals.<\/p>\n

And in the midst of it all there is a chapel<\/strong><\/h3>\n

And there, between sky and sea, emerges a small outcrop of land on top of which is built a picturesque chapel dedicated to Saint Panteleimon. Here, there are two old concrete German artillery pieces from World War II, inviting you on a relaxing ride with historical references. Arriving at the chapel, the visitor can enjoy a spectacle of unique beauty: the beach stretching at his feet and the horizon touching the blue of the sea.<\/span>

Which sea? The one whose name can mislead, as those who visit the beach of Kakia Thalassa are left to its beneficial ingredients: fine sand that tickles the soles in the hot sun and then… dive into its clear waters to cool off, leaving umbrellas and sunbeds scattered along the coastline to accommodate summer excursionists arriving at all hours from Athens and the Mesogeia regions.<\/p>\n
