Litochoro confirms its name in the most characteristic way: A simple but generous place, a picturesque town of Pieria that “embraces” the beauty of Mount Olympus and the coolness of the Aegean.<\/strong> Here, in the “heart” of Nature, we had the opportunity to participate in a three-day experiential workshop on herbs with Sofia Triantou<\/strong> from the Dominion Herbal College \u2013 Canada<\/strong>. This experience not only enriched our knowledge of herbs but also brought us closer to the authentic Greek Nature and Tradition. Sofia Triantou did not choose the area by chance; with ancient history and biodiversity, a sacred place, if we share another view of linguists who argue that “austere space” comes from the Byzantine word “liti,” which means prayer. Besides, as it is known about the place, Agios Dionysios was founded in Litochoro. When he visited the area, he founded the homonymous monastery.<\/p>\n

Sofia Triantou, an accomplished connoisseur of herbs and their properties, welcomed us to the traditional guesthouse “Robolo Boutique Hotel”.<\/strong> The guesthouse, with its authentic architecture and warm character, became the ideal setting for our experiential trip. Every day started with aromatic treatments: herbal showers, hair extracts and skin compresses. The breakfast buffet gave us flavors of herb frittata, herb bread and local jams, providing energy for the day’s activities.<\/p>\n

The three-day experiential workshop in Litochoro was an unforgettable experience that combined knowledge about herbs with the enjoyment of nature and local cuisine. Sofia Triantou, with her love and experience, introduced us to the world of herbs, while Litochoro and its natural beauties offered us an ideal summer destination. Every day starts with a shower of herbs, aromatherapy tablets, herbal extracts for hair, compresses for skin extracts, all together to give us energy and a good mood.
\nA breakfast buffet was waiting for us with herb frittata, herb bread, traditional handmade pies, local jams, butter with orange and mint essential oil, oat cake flavored with chamomile, and tonic drinks.
\nA walk on the paths of Mount Olympus taught us how to collect and dry herbs; a picnic rested us to return to the courtyard for the afternoon dessert, such as a sheep’s yogurt with marinated strawberries made of rose water and mint. A relaxing herbal shower gave us energy along with an afternoon herbal drink.
\nAnd when the sun went down, a buffet full of botanical flavors, such as rosemary potatoes, balls of botanical cheeses, vegetables flavored with sage flower water, and many tasty surprises, accompanied the traditional music in the supreme courtyard.<\/p>\n

All together at one table, we shared the culture of the Mediterranean diet and raised our glasses full of herbal drinks. And when it was time to relax, our whole chamber was flavored with herbs along with a drink for peaceful sleep.
\nThe lunches that followed taught us how to welcome our guests with botanical waters, how to flavor our table, and how to enjoy traditional recipes with herbs and beverages that stimulate digestion. Such as trahana with thyme, traditional tomato salads with sea fennel and capers, stuffed with mint and thyme, and wonderful milk pies flavored with essential oils. But above all, it is people to reunite, with the help of nature and tradition.<\/p>\n
