The sea sparkles with crystal clarity, while the trees bend down to touch the water. These are some of the enchanting sights that greet visitors of Greece’s numerous beaches. Among them, there is a special one in Attica, on one of the islands of the Argosaronic Gulf. Its name is emerald heart, and it suits it well. The beach has a heart-shaped outline, surrounded by the emerald hues of the sea. It lies in Aegina, in the area of Livadaki. It is also known as the beach of lovers, because of its romantic shape.

A weekend getaway to Aegina and its beaches

Aegina is a perfect island for a weekend escape or even a day trip from Athens. It has many attractions to enjoy, starting with the emerald heart beach, which has a stunning heart-shaped outline in the sea. You can also wander in the charming alleys of the old town, savor the local cuisine and seafood, and relax in peaceful spots with sea views.

Another highlight of Aegina among many is the church of Agios Nektarios, a majestic monastery that attracts thousands of visitors every year. And don’t forget to taste the famous Aegina pistachios before you leave. If you have more time, you can discover even more things to do and see on this island.
