Kimolos island, this small magical place of the Cyclades, clearly proves that you can find paradise, even in the most Lilliputian piece of land in the Aegean Sea. Impressive beaches, neighborhoods full of colors, and authentic island cuisine sign the ultimate destination for a journey that will manage to calm you, but above all fill your mind with unique images. Let's see some of them together...

Aegean: The largest uninhabited island full of natural pools

Kimolos Island: A serene oasis in the heart of the Aegean Sea

Kimolos-Psathi
Port town of Psathi

Upon reaching Kimolos, you will disembark at its thriving port town of Psathi, where the blue and white architecture is complemented by the turquoise waters and the aroma of basil.

Kimolos-village
Chorio, in the core of the island

A short journey of one kilometer along the main road will lead you to Chorio, the island’s epicenter, where the fusion of Cycladic design and the medieval atmosphere of the ancient castle will enchant you.

Kimolos-Kastro
Mesa Kastro, Kimolos Island

Cross the threshold and journey from the stone houses outside to the dilapidated castle within, where you will find the unscathed church of the birth of Christ.

Kimolos-Windmills
The picturesque windmills of Kimolos

Hike along Myzithrou's path to reach Xaplovouni Hill, where eight beautiful windmills stand. Soak in the magnificent view of the blue horizon before leaving the village. Make time to explore its two museums - archaeological and folklore - that house exhibits that chronicle the island’s captivating history.

Kimolos-Skiadi
Skiadi

Skiadi rock formation invites you to discover the wonderful natural landscape of this unique stone mushroom, formed thanks to the strong winds of the area. The view during the hike and reaching your destination will compensate for about half an hour of walking. Choose closed shoes and a time when the sun has not made its full appearance to start your adventure.

Polyaigos

Tip: Take a boat from Psathi port to experience the mesmerizing sights of Polyaigos island and embark on its intriguing excursion. Do not miss the opportunity to visit it and admire its incredible beaches, but also the flora and fauna in its soil.

Kimolos Beaches will be unforgettable

Kimolos Beaches: Prassa Beach

Kimolos-Prassa
The Prassa Beach

With its turquoise waters and white sand, Prassa Beach is perhaps the most magnificent coast on Kimolos’ eastern side. Its Caribbean-esque landscape will undoubtedly leave you exhilarated. Canteens and umbrellas are available for your use if desired, or you can take advantage of the natural shade offered by the tamarisk trees.

Kimolos Beaches: Karas Beach

Kimolos-Karas
The Karas Beach

Karas Beach stands apart from a conventional coast as it features white rocks that call to mind the landscape of nearby Milos and provide views of the Polyaigos islet. Its small bay is a prime spot for diving into its pool-like, deep turquoise waters.

Karas Beach’s pristine environment is unorganized and features only a scattering of tamarisk trees for shade. Don’t forget to bring a towel, sun hat, water, and snacks to enhance your experience.

Kimolos Beaches: Rema Beach

The Rema Beach

A fifteen-minute walk from the village will lead you to Rema Beach, where clear blue waters and pebbles create a sheltered landscape with sparse vegetation offering minimal shade. The main attractions of this unique coast are the ‘syrmata’ - caves carved into the rock that serve as boat shelters - and the ‘elephant’ rock formation.

Kimolos Beaches: Aliki Beach

Aliki Beach

The expansive coast of Aliki, located just 3 kilometers from the village, provides delightful swimming opportunities for the entire family. Its crystal-clear shallow waters and tamarisk trees for shade create a one-of-a-kind summer swimming environment. While there are no facilities on Aliki Beach, nearby taverns promise a scrumptious meal after your swim.

Kimolos Beaches: Bonatsa Beach

Directly next to Aliki Beach, you’ll discover the coast of Bonatsa. It is comparably sheltered, shallow, and sandy, and has a beach bar along its expanse.

Kimolos Beaches: Mavrospilia Beach

The Mauospilia Beach

Follow the signs shortly after leaving the salt lake shore and you’ll find yourself at Mavrospilia beach. To dive into its waters, you’ll need to traverse a road that is not fully paved in some sections. The beach, covered in sand, is named after a cave on the sea rocks.

Should you choose, a beach bar can offer you umbrellas and sunbeds. In either the organized or unorganized section of the beach, stay until sunset to appreciate the awe-inspiring reflection of its colors on the sea.

Kimolos Beaches: Ellinika Beach

Kimolos-Greek
The Ellinika Beach

Situated beside Mavrospilia beach is Ellinika, which also boasts thick sand. The path to reach it is rugged and requires traveling along a bumpy road. While swimming in its magnificent waters, don’t forget to put on a mask to observe the ruins of the underwater necropolis between Kimolos and Milos. On the hilltop above the beach, remnants of tombs from the ancient Mycenaean city remain visible.

Kimolos-Library

So you know: Kimolos boasts 4 open-air libraries where you can borrow a book to accompany your vacation. You can also support the commendable initiative of the volunteer group ‘Kimololists’ by making a donation.

Kimolos

How to get to Kimolos? To get to Kimolos, the place named after its first settler, you will need a maximum of seven hours ferry trip from the port of Piraeus.

Kimolos, an oasis of calm in the Cyclades, awaits your arrival to experience its distinctive beaches, tour its monuments and magnificent natural landscape, and most importantly, enjoy a holiday overflowing with relaxation.
