Pelion means holidays, winter – summer. Mountain and sea. Argalasti can be the starting point of your holidays, whatever time of year you plan them. With spectacular views of the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea, the village of southern Pelion deserves to be included in your choices. The reasons are several. Let’s look at them one by one.

Pelion: A fusion of charming mountain villages and stunning beaches.

Argalasti: Starting point for holidays in Pelion

Argalasti - Pelion
Travel to Argalasti, the starting point for a creative excursion to Pelion

The fact that Argalasti does not have the same popularity as Tsagarada, Milies, and Vizitsa is only to the traveler’s advantage. On the one hand, because the village, with its own identity, has nothing to envy from its competitors. On the other hand, the visitor will have the opportunity to spend their days with less tourist hustle and bustle and more options.

As soon as you enter Argalasti, you are won over by the traditional architecture. Neat detached houses and two-story houses entangle in stone and greenery. Their courtyards predispose you to visit the houses, get to know the villagers, talk with them, and learn about past events. Historic buildings, a church, and cobbled streets make the village stand out in the multifaceted puzzle of villages on the Centaurs’ mountain. The first image captures a unique view of the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea.

Argalasti: The two buildings you must see

Argalasti has two important buildings that the traveler must spend a lot of time in. One is the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Its impressive bell tower has definitely been photographed. Of course, it is much more imposing and impressive when you find yourself in the central square of the village and raise your gaze to the sky. It was built in 1913 and is a faithful copy of the bell tower of Agia Fotini in Izmir, with the two Russian bells and the Swiss clock. The perennial plane trees of the square create a beautiful setting, and the square is a reference point in Argalasti. It couldn’t have been any other way.

The second building in the village is the famous Girls’ School, where Kostas Varnalis taught. It was built at the end of the 19th century and, unfortunately, was abandoned from World War II onwards. It was born at the beginning of the new millennium, was restored in 2002, and today is available for a variety of activities and events.

Travel to ArgalastiNear Argalasti, just 7 km away and a minute’s drive, there is Lafkos, the oldest café in Greece. Needless to say, it is a unique experience to drink your coffee there. You’ll have it to say. And you would do very well!
