Cyprus stands out for its beaches and blue waters. It is of no coincidence that many of its beaches have been voted several times as the best in Europe. One of them, in fact, has also been distinguished as one of the best in the world. We are talking about the Nisi (Island) beach in Agia Napa.
The Nisi beach and its beauty
Many have described it as the most popular beach in Cyprus and this is not an unfair description. It is a very popular destination, not only for foreigners but also for locals who know how to choose where to swim. It actually consists of two beaches... One gathers the most people while the other is more isolated. Nisi Beach is famous for its beautiful golden sand and crystal clear waters.
It can be found just 3.5 km west of the city centre of Agia Napa. It is paved with fine sand and is well protected from the winds. Therefore, one will almost always find few or no waves at all. It is a rocky beach in its western and central part. On the east side of the beach, there is a small islet very close to the coast. Due to the low water level at that point, often the islet seems to join the coast via a small strip.
This phenomenon certainly catches the eye and is considered a milestone for both Agia Napa and Cyprus in general.
The global recognition of the beach
The beauty of Nisi Beach was recognized, about two years ago, by many people around the world as well as the internationally renowned travel network Flight Network, with millions of users especially in North America and Canada. So on a list, that was made with the best beaches in the world, the Nisi beach was placed in the 25th position out of 50. In the Flight Network tribute, over 1,200 journalists, bloggers and travel agencies from all over the world expressed their opinion on where to enjoy beautiful holidays and swimming in the sea in comfort also getting the best of impressions. Cyprus and Nisi Beach have therefore won the impressions.
In fact, the tribute highlighted that there is sunshine at least 266 days a year and that the average water temperature is 21 degrees Celsius, something that not many beaches in other parts of the world can offer. Flight Network specifically mentions the famous beach of Agia Napa: "Local and foreign tourists go to this island paradise for the crystal clear waters, the soft white sand and the wonderful view. Walk for an hour in the shallow blue waters and the water will never cross your waist."
Cyprus and its beaches
Cyprus can only be proud of its beaches. It is embraced by the emerald waters of the Mediterranean Sea and surrounded everywhere by coastlines. So whichever place a traveller chooses, he will surely enjoy a sea that will compensate him for his troubles. What is worth saying is that beaches from coast to coast differ. They also have unique features per area. The colour of the sand and water are two of the things you will see differing even on nearby beaches.
What is certain is that Cyprus and its beaches are not unfairly one of the most favourite destinations in the world...
