The 5th Festival “Greek culture treats” attracted all the attention in the afternoon of last Friday in Amaliada. The sports center of the city was filled with people, showing that the festival, with participants from Greece and abroad, has become an institution, raising the bar higher.
The opening ceremony took place on the night of May 26th. It was brilliant, and by common consent, all the attendees agreed that the Festival is one of the most beautiful and lively events in the city. The municipality of Ilida received especially flattering comments for the venue, as well as the overall organization.

The current event had the peculiarity that it hosted simultaneously the following events:
- the 8th Festival of Olive Oil and Olive.
- the national conference on “The next day in the Olive Sector of Greece”
- the 6th competition of Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oils
- the 5th Competition of Table Olives.
As part of the Festival, there was also an exhibition of High-Quality Products and the Rural Regional Exhibition of Western Greece presenting new innovations in the agricultural sector with agricultural equipment for olive, as well as products, services, and gastronomy based on olive oil.

The inauguration ceremony of the Olive Oil Festival was graced by the presence of the Mayor of Ilida, Mr. Yiannis Liberis, who delivered a brief but inspiring speech. Also, he expressed his joy and optimism that the Festival has made a strong comeback after the challenging times of the pandemic, and has also improved its quality and appeal. He also highlighted the importance of the agricultural sector for the region and pledged to support the School of Agriculture, which he said deserves to be revived and restored.
Other distinguished speakers at the ceremony included the Regional Governor of Western Greece Mr. Nektarios Farmakis, the President of the Chamber of Ilia Mr. Kostas Nikoloutsos, the Vice-Regional Governor of Rural Development Mr. Theodoros Vasilopoulos, and the Emeritus Professor, head of the Olive Oil Festival Mr. Apostolos Kyritsakis. They all conveyed their warm congratulations and best wishes for the success of the Festival.
