While exploring Attica we discover very beautiful places that we may not have known existed. So one of them is so close to Athens and we may never have visited it. It's the beautiful forest of Faskomelia (sage). This is, as we can say, the "secret" of Vouliagmeni since it is not known even to some residents of the southern suburbs.

The beautiful Forest of Faskomelia

The Forest of Faskomelia is in fact a forest area of 1,200 acres. It is located just above the sea and when you stand there you can look at the endless blue as if you are on an island in the Aegean. The image you see relaxes you and makes you want to stay there until the sunset.

What are you going to see? All the beauty of nature. Cypresses and acacias, poplars and olives, pines and quinces. But most of all sage! That's why the named this forest as Faskomelia (sage) which is a small paradise in Vouliagmeni. The scenery is also made up of eucalyptus, as well as dozens of other plants and herbs. It is a purely Mediterranean landscape that combines green and blue since the sky and the sea seem to come together at this point.

If you will be there early in the morning, you'll probably even see partridges. What's certain is that you'll enjoy a magnificent landscape. And all this just 20 minutes from the city center. The spot is ideal for a completely relaxed walk away from the buzz of the center of Athens and the suburbs.

Close walk to Lake Vouliagmeni

So if you're going to the Faskomelia Forest, is easy to visit later the Lake of Vouliagmeni. It is a hidden Attic treasure that is there waiting for you to discover it all year round.

Lake Vouliagmeni is in fact a natural brackish lake with thermal properties. Its waters come from a depth of 50 to 100 meters. They have a temperature from 22°C to 29°C, demonstrating that at some depth it communicates with the volcanic arc of the Aegean sea that runs through the Greek islands. It's an experience worth living for you and your family.

The paradise of the Forest of Faskomelia and Lake Vouliagmeni may become the best reason for your next outing.
