The Greek Seychelles, in Ikaria, ideally encapsulates the very essence and identity of the island – a magical, wild, and intact landscape and therefore absolutely real. What’s even more interesting about Ikaria’s longevity is its beautiful beaches. Was the Seychelles beach created by mistake? It was in 1985 that a rockslide during the opening of the tunnel to create a road to and from the village of Manganitis caused rocks to tumble into the water. Over the years, the water did its job and somehow, in essence, “by mistake”, a top beauty Greek beach was formed.

Seychelles – Ikaria: Unique dives!

Seychelles Beaches - IkariaThe Ikarians themselves affectionately call Seychelles beach “the aquamarine of the island”. The truth is that the blue-with-light-emerald tones of its waters are dazzling. The exotic, à la Caribbean scenery is ideally complemented by the fine white pebbles of the beach and the impressive granite rocks that surround it.

Seychelles - IkariaIn fact, the imposing white rocks create underwater caves around the beach. As you understand, Seychelles is ideal for exploring and diving at the bottom of the sea (so don’t forget your mask), but also for resounding dives from the granite rocks!

How to get to Seychelles

It crosses Ikaria, and after passing the tunnel leading to Manganitis on the northeast side of the island, you will see a parking lot and a sign reading “Seychelles”. Here, on this main road and outdoor parking, you will leave your vehicle.

Beaches - Ikaria: SeychellesNote also that there are organized boat trips, either from Agios Kirikos or from Evdilos. This way, you will be able to pass by the impressive sea cave right next to Seychelles, which is not visible from the beach. Since there is no canteen in Seychelles, you must have brought all the necessities if you plan to sit for hours.

Ikaria - SeychellesIn fact, Seychelles is one of the three beaches of Manganitis, which is one of the most beautiful fishing villages of Ikaria. The granite rocks and the rich vegetation -with olive and pine trees- are the main features of the landscape of Manganitis, which, apart from being idyllic, is also one of the largest villages of Ikaria. Here you will find scattered, very nice taverns, café-bars, and rooms to let. As for the other two beaches, they are Fyrodi and Gialos, next to the picturesque port of Manganitis.
