One of Athens’ most iconic sightseeing will change in the next 1.5 years

Within the next 18 months, Lycabettus Hill will change. The Municipality of Athens intends to implement a series of projects in order to give the famous hill of the Greek capital a different face.

At the same time, it will be an attraction and a place of recreation for even more Greeks and foreigners who want to enjoy its beauty. Soon procedures designed by the previous municipal authority will take place. The plan includes the implementation of an extremely important intervention. The green lung will be protected and will stand out even more. The project, with a budget of EUR 1.5 million, includes the pilot implementation of flood defense techniques.

These interventions will help in dealing with floods in the best possible way. Phenomena that are observed when it rains in the area of the hill on the side of Kolonaki.

“Along with the approximately 35acres that we will ask the Public Real Estate Company to grant us, we are implementing the emblematic project for the creation of an urban forest of unique beauty and utility, not only for Athens but also the whole of Attica”, added the mayor of Athens.

One of the most emblematic sightseeings of Athens, Lycabettus Hill, is changing in the next 1.5 years.
